Security profiles

Security profiles protect against unauthorized access of your application and data. A profile defines: login hours, IP ranges and linking sessions to IPs. Profiles can be used company wide, added to self-service portals, or even used per individual user.

Login hours
Defines the window you provide to your users in which they are able to login to the application. This can e.g. be office hours for your staff and around the clock for your portal users, which you could set in seperate profiles.

IP ranges
You can define IP ranges to ensure you can control from which locations users can access the application. An IP number is a unique number corresponding to any computer or network on the Internet. The IP number contains a set of 4 numbers, like 212.242.230.31. In the security profile you can define from which IP numbers you allow access, like your company network. This ensures that access to PeopleXS is only granted from your company network. Ask your network administrator for the IP number(s) to start using this option.
Hint: under "login details" with a user you can see which IP numbers they currently use to log in.

Link session to IP
This option is standard enabled within PeopleXS, meaning that when a user logs in, his "session" is locked to the computer he/she has used to log in with. For companies with proxy and firewall settings that not support this, it can have the effect that users are logged off randomly. By disabling this option you can remove this side effect. The advice of PeopleXS is on the other hand to always have this option ENABLED, because it protects you from hackers stealing valid sessions as they travel on the internet. The better solution is to contact your network administrator and change your company proxy and firewall settings.

Profile management
By defining more then one profile you can manage groups of users within the application differently. When your organisation has locations on different locations you can add a profile for each location and manage network access, login hours, etc, per location.
