The dynamics of linking work to workers are changing dramatically thanks to outsourcing. The information superhighway continues to reduce the need for workers to be in the same office, or even on the same continent. Meanwhile, the economic wisdom of employing large numbers of permanent staff is increasingly questioned in today´s corporate world. These two factors have led PeopleXS to develop OutsourcingXS, a web-application for recruiters who outsource and need an ´out of the box solution´ that does the job. OutsourcingXS is subscription based and thus very suitable for project based off shoring.

Off shoring takes off

The gradual shift over the last century, especially in Europe and the USA, from an economy based on manufacturing to one based on service industries, has also contributed to the current situation. Today, it´s all in the daily work for someone in Amsterdam, London or Berlin to download data that was written in Manila from a server in Sao Paolo, and then receive support from a helpdesk in New Delhi –­ the result of one of the newest outsourcing buzzwords: off shoring. Large corporations are shifting substantial numbers of IT and back-office jobs to emerging countries such as India, China, the Philippines or Eastern Europe.

Currently India is the forefront of the IT off shoring market, stealing the march of the Philippines over the last five years by improving its capabilities and supply of middle-level managers, software developers etc.

OutsourcingXS: PeopleXS´ newest development

PeopleXS launches OutsourcingXS to facilitate the transition from traditional hiring to offshore recruitment. The challenge with outsourcing is putting effective recruitment campaigns in place with strong back-office support for minimal cost, using the web as catalyst. Attracting the right human capital when first starting up offshore, or launching trainee campaigns requires structure and preferably an out of the box solution, to support the operation. Prime concerns are recruiting and training the right people with the right skill set to perform the tasks as effective as possible on behalf of their existing onshore and offshore businesses. Process support is often lacking at the time when the off shoring decisions are made.

Global shift

According to estimates by the US market research firm Forrester, off shoring will grow at 30-40% per year for the next five years. The estimate that 400,000 jobs have already moved offshore, although the estimates from economy.com are as much as 50% higher. Forrester further estimates that in the USA, some 3.3 million jobs will have been transferred due to off shoring by 2015.
