Back to the 1970? just vice versa...

I read in a Danish newspaper Information this morning, the article: "Økonomisk krise: Ledigheden rammer flere mænd end kvinder", that men was more affected of unemployment than women. An economic crisis is not alone impacting losing your job if you are a man but threaten your family life too. The last three months, unemployment in Denmark has risen by 27 percent compared to October last year. Male unemployment in the period rose by 37 percent while women's unemployment has only increased by 13 percent. The overall unemployment rate rose from 2.1 to 2.3 per cent (Source: Danmarks Statistik).

The reason for higher unemployment for men is that they in greater extent work in constructions and industry which is hardest hit by workforce reduction, whilst women tend to work in the public sector.

What I think was interesting in this article was the fact that men sit in the same situation that women did it in the 1970, just the other way around! Now time, naturally, has come for them to be "house men" ? so it is not too bad after all.

What is interesting too is that women not often marry downwards, but researchers predict it will be balanced over years because the unemployed will get re-educated.

Luckily for that and the human survival:-)
